    Jeannie Baldwin:

    Jeannie Baldwin is the PSAC's Regional Executive Vice-President (REVP) for the Atlantic.  On June 22, 2008, delegates to the PSAC Atlantic regional convention have re-elected Jeannie as their Regional Executive Vice-President for a three-year term.

    “I am looking forward to working with the members of the new PSAC regional council,” said Baldwin. “By recruiting new activists the PSAC will be able maintain its tradition of social involvement and its strong presence in the labour movement in the Atlantic,” she added.

    Baldwin was first elected as REVP on February 23, 2004 following the resignation of the former REVP.

    Jeannie's national responsibilities include bargaining with Parks Canada. She sits on the Dental Board with the REVP (Prairies) Robyn Benson and on the NDP Federal Council. She shares the responsibility for, Separate Employers, Student Employment and Youth, Organizing and Political Action. She is also responsible for National Access Conference with Jean-François Des Lauriers and National Women’s Conference with Robyn Benson.

    In the Atlantic Region, she is responsible for the Regional Council, organizing and recertifications, education, political and social action, women's and equity programs, area councils, Directly Chartered Locals and separate employers, federations of labour and related committees, district labour councils and the Joint Career Transition Committees.

    Immediately prior to her election as REVP ( Atlantic ), Jeannie was working as the union's Regional Field Coordinator for the PSAC-Treasury Board Joint Learning Program (JLP). Before her involvement with the JLP, she worked for 26 years with Human Resources Development Canada.

    Jeannie became active in the union in the 1980s and started to take a leadership role as a result of the 1991 national strike. Over the years, she has held a range of local, regional and national positions. From 1993 to 1998 she held the position of National Vice-President (Newfoundland & Labrador) in the Canada Employment and Immigration Union (CEIU). Between 1995 and 1998, she was the Labour Co-Chair of the Newfoundland and Labrador Joint Adjustment Committee. Just before her election as REVP, she held the positions of Vice-President and Steward in Local 80215 and was the PSAC's Maritimes Women's Director.

    Jeannie's activities haven't been restricted to the PSAC. From 1995 to 1998, she was the Women's General Vice-President on the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour executive. She also served a term as Chair of the Board of Directors of the South Shore Transition House in Bridgewater , Nova Scotia from 2000 to 2002. Jeannie is also a Labour College of Canada graduate, class of '93.
