March 13, 2008International Women's Day 2008 The Regional Women's Committee in New Brunswick had different ways to celebrate International Women's Day. While some committees took advantage of this day to gather women at coffee breaks to have some discussions, others held a meeting and one decided to celebrate life and vitality in combining a belly dancing session to their monthly luncheon.

February 27, 2008KOUCHIBOUGUAC PARK LOCAL PRESIDENT MEETS WITHMAYORS OF SURROUNDING AREAS:On Monday, February 25th, Rhéal Vautour, president of local 60284 met with the Mayors of Richibucto, St-Louis-de-Kent and Rexton in order to discuss a strike avoidance plan. All three (3) mayors were in agreement that a strike at the Park would be economically devastating on the three communities and will work on a plan of action. February 25, 2008"Kouchibouguac Park local 60284 offers Valentine's cardpetition to local MP:
Local president Rhéal Vautour and member Marilyn Simon Ingram visited local MP Dominic LeBlanc and offered him a gigantic Valentine Day's card which was signed by more than half of the members. The MP was very impressed with the card and put it on the wall of is office. The MP was very sympathetic in regards to the student issue and agreed that the regional rates of pay should be abolished once and for all. During this meeting, the MP mentioned that he would bring this subject to the House of Commons during question period. The MP was told by the members that negotiations are now at an impasse and that the members are ready to go on strike.
February 11, 2008ALAQSITE'W GITPU SCHOOL, LISTUGUJ
On January 22, 2008, the members of the Alaqsite'w Gitpu School in Listuguj elected their new executive:
During this meeting, they also elected their negotiating team members: Louise Vicaire, Hilda Labillois and Dave Caplin.
This new team looks forward to negotiating its first collective agreement and an opportunity to work together with the Chief and Band Council of Listuguj to improve their school and the education of their children in the spirit of respect.
February 11, 2008PARK STRATEGIC STRIKE COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRACTICE THEIR STRIKE SKILLS
On January 18, 2008, the Parks Strategic Strike Committee in New Brunswick, which consists of Kouchibouguac Park local president, Rhéal Vautour; Fundy Park local president, Kevin Rossiter and negotiating team member Mike LeBlanc met in Moncton for their first meeting. At lunch time, they took the opportunity to take part of a demonstration in front of Moncton City Hall in support of CUPE local 1251 who are presently on strike. January 31, 2008Members of Park Canada were out on Monday January 28 despite the weather in the Maritimes to distribute information leaflets to their members
Park Canada members arewell aware of the students' issues and will not hesitate to stand to get this issue solved. The elimination of pay Zones is also a major issue for them in this round of negotiations.
Finally, to show support to their negotiating team on their return to the table, both Park locals in New Brunswick, Kouchibouguac 60284,and Fundy 60029 have sent them balloons and a treats basket. (Pictures)
January 3, 2008MERRY CHRISTMAS!The Saint John Regional Women's Committee, along with Dear Old Santa and a magician, hosted their first Christmas Party for children of PSAC members on December 9th, 2007. The event was a great success and fun for everyone. (Pictures)

At their recent General membership meeting, members of CEIU Local 60269 wanted their Bargaining Team to know they really value and support the work that the Bargaining Teams are doing on their behalf and to let them know they stand behind them 100%.
December 7, 2007National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against WomenThe Saint John Regional Women's Committee held a "Lunch & Learn" on December 6th. Sgt. Doug Lockhart spoke on Violence Against Women. The event was a huge success.
Members of Local 60052, Southern NB RCMP also recognized December 6, 2007.Many individuals took part in different activities and helped to raise awareness.
October 16, 2007Lunch & LearnThe Saint John Regional Women's Committee hosted a "Lunch & Learn" on October 3rd, 2007. Giselle Comeau of the Canadian Food Inspection Agency talked to the women about "Nutrition & Labelling". This event was a great success. RWC will be holding these sessions with various topics on a monthly basis. August 21, 200724 hour Labour Rally in Moncton !The strong winds and the pouring rain weren't enough to dampen the spirits of the numerous unionized workers determined to participate in the 24-hour rally organized by the New Brunswick Federation of Labour (NBFL)on August 8! Several PSAC members were among some of the 400 members fromvarious unions who gathered at different times during this 24 hour rally in Moncton to demonstrate their opposition to Atlantica, to Public-Private Partnerships and to the exportation of forestry and manufacturing sector jobs. John Gordon, PSAC National President, Patty Ducharme, PSAC National Executive Vice President, and Lise Lévesque, PSAC member in her role as the 2nd vice-president for the NBFL were among the guest speakers at the event. This peaceful rally, which coincided with the meeting of the coalition of Premiers of all provinces and territories, was a success!

Local presidents (CFIA) Jennifer Boucher and (Kouchibouguac National Park) Rhéal Vautour spent the day at the Shediac Lobster Festival distributing fans to visitors of the festival. It was a hot day and the visitors appreciated the fans and also the message." July 11, 2007DEFENDING QUALITY PUBLIC SERVICES IN MONCTON, NB"Athletes, coaches and parents know only too well the importance of quality public services. During the 2007 Canadian Juvenile/Junior Judo Championship which was held in Moncton, N.B. on June 30th and July 1st, over 400 athletes from across the country were competing for medals. Many took the time to visit the PSAC booth to find out more about quality public services".
