REVP, Jeannie Baldwin presented a cheque in the amount of $500.00 to St. John's Access Committee on June 21st 2006. The monies will assist the Committee to carry out its mandate under the PSAC Constitution. Sister Baldwin noted that St. John's MDAC is fighting for Human Rights and everyone's right to a decent life. "Disability should not stop anyone" she concluded.

Good Day Sisters and Brothers:
I would like at this time to inform you, members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, that there is now an official Committee to deal with issues related to persons with disabilities.
Members with Disabilities Access Committee is the regional link between persons with disabilities and the PSAC. The Committee has gained the support of the PSAC Components and is fully regenerated as a committee under the PSAC. The goals of this committee are to ensure the rights of our members with disabilities are fully protected and that their disabilities are not looked upon as barriers to their abilities.
This means that the Committee will provide support to the members from this equity group. The Committee will discuss, identify and strategize around how to best address issues of particular concerns to its membership.
The committee will offer education courses dealing with issues that face our members in their work place such as DUTY TO ACCOMMODATE which will be offered in September, 2006 by the St. John’s PSAC Regional Office.
If you have members who are interested in attending the above course, please register on the PSAC Atlantic website (listed under Education Schedule – St. John’s Region) or contact the PSAC Regional office at 726-6453.
The Committee holds its general meetings bi-monthly and new members are always welcome. Please feel free to contact the Undersigned at anytime.
In Solidarity,
Cecil Stoyles, Chair
